About

Welcome to the 3rd Australian edition of Brazil Film Festival. Bem vindos! The Festival started in Sydney in 2009 with four films and four nights, hit the road to Melbourne and Brisbane in 2010, and this year is flying across the country to Perth and Adelaide with 12 feature films and 79 sessions. This coming November Brazil Film Festival will enthrall all five state capitals of the Australian continent with the images, sounds, scents and flavours of Brazil.

None of this would be possible, of course, without the wholehearted support of the Festival’s partners, sponsors and team. This year we’d like to thank the support of the Federal Government of Brazil though its Consulate in Sydney and Embassy in Canberra; the Festival’s sponsors HSBC, Oi Exchange and Bravo Migration; premier media partner World Movies Channel; event partners Palace Cinemas, ibev, Jarjoura Design, Sponsorship Office, Sussa Coffee House and Capoeira Xangô; and community partners ABCC, BASA, BrazilWA, ABRASSO, BraCCA and ABRISA. Last, but not least by any measure, we are thankful to the unyielding contribution of the teams led by the Festival Managers Claudio Climaco in Brisbane, Sandra Duncan in Sydney, Henrique Melo in Perth, Andrea Freitas in Adelaide.

This year’s film selection brings to Australia a wide array of elements and emotions of Brazilian culture and film production. We’ll laugh with the hilarious comedy of errors Cilada.com, the chicky Head Over Heels, the fun Easy Does It and the nonsense humour of Reflections of a Blender. We’ll travel to the Amazon with a feast of images in Tamboro, to Carnaval preparations in Rio with inside perspectives of The Samba Within Me, and from Iguaçu Falls to Belém with the very personal account of Caboca. We’ll be thrilled by the suspense in Blue Eyes and the action in Bróder. We’ll be moved by the drama So Hard to Forget, inspired by the visionary Our Home: The Astral City, and touched by the first-hand accounts of 5x Favela.

Aproveitem!
